Juliette Gordon Low was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1860.
Known as Daisy to her close friends, she enjoyed nature, art, athletics and other interests that would later be key parts of the Girl Scout organization.
Juliette Gordon Low established Girl Scouts in 1912,
assembling the first troop which consisted of 18 culturally and ethnically diverse girls.
The troop went on hiking and camping trips, learning about the outdoors through exploration. They also worked within their community, aiding those in need.
